He currently works as a full-time graphic novelist. Kazu lives near Seattle, Washington with his wife and two children. Estudió cine en la Universidad de California, Santa Bárbara, donde comenzó a dibujar cómics para el periódico estudiantil Daily Nexus, llegando a ser su director artístico durante tres años y medio.
