Fue un actor y escritor canado-estadounidense, conocido mundialmente por interpretar a Chandler Bing en la serie Friends, papel que le valió una nominación al Emmy en 2002. Hijo de John Bennett Perry, actor y exmodelo, y Suzanne Perry, periodista canadiense y exsecretaria de prensa del primer ministro Pierre Trudeau, sus padres se divorciaron cuando él era muy pequeño. Se crió en Ottawa, Canadá, y estudió en Rockcliffe Park Public School y Ashbury College, destacándose en tenis durante su juventud. A los 15 años se mudó a Los Ángeles con su padre y comenzó a enfocarse en la actuación. Su carrera despegó con pequeños papeles en series como Sensación de vivir y Autopista hacia el cielo, hasta que en 1994 fue elegido para Friends, donde su personaje sarcástico y entrañable se convirtió en uno de los más queridos.
