KLIMT GUSTAV Gustav Klimt nació el 14 de julio de 1862 en Baumgarten, Viena, hijo de Ernst Klimt y Anna Finster. Estudió en la Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Viena y comenzó su carrera realizando encargos decorativos junto a su hermano Ernst y Franz Matsch. En 1897 fundó la Secesión Vienesa, de la que fue presidente, impulsando el modernismo en Austria. Entre sus obras más conocidas se encuentran El beso, Retrato de Adele Bloch-Bauer y La Virgen. Su estilo se caracterizó por el simbolismo y el uso de motivos ornamentales. Murió en Viena el 6 de febrero de 1918 tras un accidente cerebrovascular.
