In Leviathan, Hobbes presents us with a portrait of politics which depicts how a state that is made up of the unified body of all its citizens will be powerful, fruitful, protective of each of its members, and - above all - free from internal violence. HOBBES THOMAS Thomas Hobbes fue un célebre filósofo inglés, nacido el 5 de abril de 1588 y fallecido el 4 de diciembre de 1679, considerado uno de los fundadores de la filosofía política moderna. Su obra maestra, Leviatán 1651 , sentó las bases de la teoría del contrato social, argumentando que los seres humanos en estado de naturaleza viven en un conflicto perpetuo "la guerra de todos contra todos" . Para escapar de este caos, defendió la necesidad de un soberano absoluto con poder centralizado que garantizara la paz y la seguridad, influyendo de manera decisiva en el desarrollo del pensamiento político occidental.
