MARCUS AURELIUS (121-180) He was an emperor of the Roman Empire form the year 161 until the year of his death in 180. He was the last of the so-called "Five Good Emperors" and is considered one of the most representative figures in Stoic philosophy. Marcus Aurelius's greatest work, Meditations, written in Hellenistic Greek during the campaigns of the 170s, is still regarded as a monument to perfect government.
