CONAN DOYLE ARTHUR Sir Arthur Conan Doyle nació en Edimburgo el 22 de mayo de 1859 y murió en Crowborough el 7 de julio de 1930. Fue médico y escritor británico, célebre por crear al detective Sherlock Holmes. Estudió medicina en la Universidad de Edimburgo y ejerció como médico en Southsea entre 1882 y 1890. Publicó su primera novela, Estudio en escarlata, en 1887, iniciando una serie de relatos protagonizados por Holmes y el doctor Watson. También escribió novelas históricas, obras de teatro y ciencia ficción. Participó como médico en la guerra de los bóeres y defendió el espiritismo tras la muerte de su hijo en la Primera Guerra Mundial. Su legado literario sigue siendo influyente y ampliamente leído.
