CLARICE LISPECTOR Clarice Lispector was a Brazilian novelist and short-story writer. Her innovation in fiction brought her international renown. She was born in the Ukraine in 1920, but in the aftermath of World War I and the Russian Civil War, the family fled to Romania and eventually Brazil. She published her first novel, Near to the Wildheart, in 1943, when she was just twenty-three, and the next year was awarded the Graça Aranha Prize for the best first novel. She died in 1977, shortly after the publication of her final novel, The Hour of the Star. Edad recomendada: Adultos. LISPECTOR CLARICE Clarice Lispector 1920-1977 fue una escritora y periodista brasileña de origen ucraniano, considerada una de las autoras más importantes del siglo XX en Brasil. Nació en Chechelnik, Ucrania, en una familia judía, y emigró a Brasil con su familia cuando era niña. Creció en Recife y luego se trasladó a Río de Janeiro, donde estudió Derecho. Su primera novela, Cerca del corazón salvaje 1944 , escrita en un estilo innovador, la catapultó a la fama. A lo largo de su carrera, exploró temas de introspección, identidad y el sentido de la existencia en obras como La pasión según G. H. 1964 , Agua viva 1973 y La hora de la estrella 1977 , su última novela publicada antes de su fallecimiento. Lispector también trabajó como periodista y traductora, y su estilo literario único la convirtió en una figura influyente en la literatura brasileña.
