Brett, nacido en New Rochelle, Nueva York, el 8 de febrero de 1973, es un escritor estadounidense especializado en literatura fantástica. Estudió Literatura Inglesa e Historia del Arte en la Universidad de Buffalo y trabajó más de diez años en el sector farmacéutico antes de dedicarse por completo a la escritura. Su fama internacional llegó con El ciclo de los demonios, saga traducida a más de veintisiete idiomas y convertida en bestseller. Su primera novela, El hombre marcado The Warded Man , fue escrita en gran parte durante sus trayectos en metro por Nueva York.
