Se especializa en el análisis de datos y la visualización de información, abordando temas como elecciones, cambios sociales y deportes. Actualmente, escribe para El País, donde lidera el equipo de narrativas visuales. Antes de dedicarse al periodismo, Llaneras investigó modelos matemáticos en biología computacional y biotecnología en la Universitat de Girona, donde también fue profesor. Su interés por los datos lo llevó a fundar Politikon, un blog de análisis político y social, y a colaborar con medios como Jot Down y El Español.
