Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, inspired by Alice Liddell, the daughter of the Dean of Christ Church in Oxford, was published in 1865, followed by Through the Looking-Glass in 1871. He wrote numerous stories and poems for children including the nonsense poem The Hunting of the Snark and fairy stories Sylvie and Bruno. SINOPSIS Charles Lutwidge Dodgson wrote this wonderful tale under the pen name of Lewis Carroll. It was written for Alice Liddell, the daughter of a fellow college professor at the University of Oxford in England and first published in 1871. The full title of the book is Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There. It was a sequel to Carroll's original tale Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. In this new story, Alice climbs through a mirror into a world where everything is upside-down. In this sequel, we see a mirror-image of Wonderland populated by some of the strangest creatures in fiction and considered the finest example of the "literary nonsense" genre. One of the classics of English literature, it remains popular within both adults and children. CARROLL LEWIS Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, conocido como Lewis Carroll, nació el 27 de enero de 1832 en Daresbury, Cheshire, Inglaterra. Desde joven mostró gran talento para las matemáticas y la escritura. Estudió en la Universidad de Oxford, donde obtuvo el grado de bachiller y fue nombrado profesor de matemáticas en Christ Church. En 1861 fue ordenado diácono, aunque nunca llegó a ejercer como sacerdote. Carroll padecía de tartamudez y sordera en un oído, lo que afectó sus relaciones sociales. Fue un apasionado de la fotografía, especialmente de retratos infantiles, y cultivó amistades con varias niñas, entre ellas Alice Liddell, quien inspiró su obra más famosa. Durante un paseo en barca en 1862, Carroll narró a Alice y sus hermanas una historia fantástica que luego se convertiría en "Alicia en el País de las Maravillas", publicada en 1865.
