MORE THOMAS Tomás Moro, conocido en inglés como Thomas More, nació en Londres el 7 de febrero de 1478, hijo de Sir John More y Agnes Graunger. Estudió en la Universidad de Oxford y en Lincoln's Inn, donde se formó como jurista. En 1504 fue elegido miembro del Parlamento y posteriormente ocupó cargos relevantes en la corte de Enrique VIII, llegando a ser Canciller de Inglaterra entre 1529 y 1532. Su obra más célebre, Utopía, publicada en 1516, describe una sociedad organizada bajo principios de igualdad y racionalidad. Fue cercano a humanistas como Erasmo de Rotterdam y participó activamente en debates políticos y religiosos de su tiempo. Se opuso a la ruptura con la Iglesia católica y a la supremacía del rey sobre ella, lo que motivó su encarcelamiento en la Torre de Londres. El 6 de julio de 1535 fue ejecutado por decapitación en Tower Hill. Sus restos reposan en la iglesia de St Peter ad Vincula en Londres.
