LAWRENCE DAVID HERBERT David Herbert Lawrence nació el 11 de septiembre de 1885 en Eastwood, Inglaterra. Hijo de un minero y una maestra, creció en un entorno marcado por las tensiones sociales que más tarde influirían profundamente en su obra. Estudió en la Universidad de Nottingham y comenzó a publicar desde joven. Su literatura, audaz y provocadora, abordó temas como la sexualidad, la alienación moderna y la lucha emocional del individuo frente a la sociedad industrial. Obras como Hijos y amantes, El arco iris y El amante de Lady Chatterley lo colocaron en el centro de la controversia, enfrentando censura y rechazo. Viajero incansable, vivió en Italia, Australia, México y Estados Unidos, buscando inspiración y libertad. Murió de tuberculosis el 2 de marzo de 1930 en Francia, dejando un legado literario que desafió las normas de su tiempo y abrió caminos hacia una expresión más libre y visceral del ser humano.
